Each frame undergoes meticulous colour and density correction, ensuring consistent quality throughout. The main distinction lies in file sizes, ranging from 1MB to as high as 150MB per image. While high-resolution files are ideal for editing and printing, smaller sizes are perfect for online & social media use. We empower you with control over your images, so choose your options wisely to suit your needs.

A quick note for resolutions is here:

  • Basic-res: 1500 x 1000 px
  • Standard-res: 3000 x 2000 px
  • High-res: 6000 x 4000 px

We provide three file format options for your scanned images: JPG, BMP, and TIFF.

☆ JPG files are suitable for most purposes, offering a good balance between image quality and file size. They are ideal for sharing online and social media use.

☆ BMP files offer higher quality than JPGs but come with larger file sizes. They are preferred for digital and archival purposes.

☆ TIFF files are uncompressed, resulting in the highest quality images but also the largest file sizes. They are ideal for professional editing and printing.

When choosing your file format, consider your intended use and storage capacity. For everyday sharing, JPG is usually sufficient. If you require higher quality for printing or editing, opt for BMP or TIFF.

A quick note for file sizes is here:

  • JPG: 2MB to 20MB
  • BMP: 4MB to 80MB
  • TIFF: 9MB to 150MB

Absolutely, we're happy to provide pushing processing for your black and white negatives!

To ensure the best results, we suggest using a marker to jot down the ISO or number of stops (+/-) you shot the films at directly on the film canisters or 120 rolls immediately after shooting. This helps prevent any confusion or forgetfulness down the line.

First and foremost, there are no additional scanning fees involved.

For Half-Frames, we offer the flexibility of scanning your rolls into either individual images or diptychs. (Diptychs, consisting of paired images or artworks, often carry a thematic or narrative connection.) It's truly inspiring to witness the creative storytelling that emerges from these paired images.

It's important to note that when scanning diptychs, there may be a slight loss of image areas on each side. However, if the spacings are consistent, this typically remains within acceptable limits. We do caution against this option if your camera may encounter spacing issues.

If you're interested in having your roll scanned in both formats, simply select both options in the order form. We'll ensure you receive both individual frames and diptychs, albeit with a small additional fee of $5 added to your order.

Now, let's talk about XPAN – our preferred 135 format. Viewing XPAN images on a larger screen is truly enchanting – immersive and visually stunning. And just like our other scanning services, there are no extra costs associated with scanning XPAN rolls.

We provide two options for handling your negatives: leaving them uncut or cutting and sleeving them for you.

If you opt for cutting and sleeving, we offer complimentary standard sleeves, or you can choose the renowned PrintFile sleeves at an additional cost of $1 each.

Regardless of your choice, please indicate the number of sleeves needed, corresponding to the total number of rolls you are submitting.

As it's time to collect your films, we offer three options in the order form: Pick up in person, Return via Post, and Archive my films.

Please take note of the following important points:

Collection Timing:

Only initiate collection procedures after your order is completed and you have received your scans. Please refrain from requesting collection if your orders are still in progress.

Pick up in Person:

If you choose to pick up your films in person, please initiate arrangements by emailing us beforehand.

Return via Post:

Opting for return via post will incur a $10 return postage fee. Your negatives will be posted as soon as your order is completed.

Archiving Option:

  • Archiving your films is a recommended option if you're not in a hurry to retrieve them. Feel free to select this option if you prefer.
  • When you decide it's time to pick up your films or return them via post, simply notify us via email, and we'll have your negatives ready for collection or postage.
  • If archiving isn't your preference, we offer professional storage services, free of charge. However, please note, for negatives stored over one year, a small fee will be charged for any future retrievals.

We apologize if we've overlooked any questions you may have had. Your feedback and inquiries are important to us, so please don't hesitate to reach out. We welcome any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to send us a message now, and we'll be happy to assist you.
